What Tests Are Included?

Your body relies on iron in red blood cells to carry oxygen to all its cells.

Without enough iron, your red blood cells will be unable to supply enough oxygen. However, too much iron isn’t good for your body either. Both high and low iron levels may indicate a serious underlying problem.

Ferritin levels can also increase as a result of damage to your organs, such as the liver and spleen.

Symptoms of excess ferritin include:

  • Stomach pain
  • Heart palpitations or chest pains
  • Unexplained weakness
  • Joint pain
  • Unexplained fatigue

A high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) test, which is more sensitive than a standard test, also can be used to evaluate your risk of developing coronary artery disease, a condition in which the arteries of your heart are narrowed. Coronary artery disease can lead to a heart attack.

This blood test, which doesn’t require fasting, indicates your average blood sugar level for the past two to three months. It measures the percentage of blood sugar attached to hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells.

A blood glucose test measures the amount of glucose in your blood. Glucose, a type of simple sugar, is your body’s main source of energy. Your body converts the carbohydrates you eat into glucose. Glucose testing is primarily done for people with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes.

Other possible causes of high blood glucose levels include:

  • Hyperthyroidism, or overactive thyroid
  • ✅ Pancreatitis, or inflammation of your pancreas
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • Pre-diabetes, which happens when you’re at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes
Stress to the body from illness, trauma, or surgery
  • medications such as steroids

Cortisol is your main stress hormone. On top of helping you cope with stress, it helps control your blood sugar, regulates your blood pressure, converts food to energy.

  • ✅ Rapid weight gain mainly in the face, chest and abdomen contrasted with slender arms and legs
  • A flushed and round face
  • ✅ High blood pressure
  • Osteoporosis
  • Skin changes (bruises and purple stretch marks)
  • ✅ Muscle weakness
  • ✅ Mood swings, which show as anxiety, depression or irritability
  • Increased thirst and frequency of urination.
